Obituary of Donald Sylvester Brown

Donald Sylvester Brown was born on December 2, 1953 in Powhatan, Virginia. He was the fourth of six children born to the late Frank and Mozelle Brown. Donald accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Little Zion Baptist Church where he remained a member throughout his life. He was a graduate of Powhatan High School - Class of 1973. Donald was married to Elaine Brown and from this union three children were born. He was employed with Beaumont Juvenile Correctional Center for nearly thirty years, working through the ranks as a juvenile correctional officer, transportation driver, and eventually becoming a sergeant. After retirement, he pursued course work in HVAC and also obtained a CDL license. Donald was an avid lover of sports, particularly football, basketball, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed watching movies and spending time with his family and friends. On Saturday, September 16, 2017, Donald entered eternal rest at St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Virginia, surrounded by his children and close relatives. He leaves fond memories to be cherished by his children, Kendria, Tanika, and Daryl Brown; two brothers, Frank Brown and Roger Brown; three sisters, Geraldine Brown, Valerie Brown, Hazel Jackson; one half-sister, Monica Taliaferro; one great-uncle, Anthony Brown; brother-in-law, Walter Jackson; brother-in-law and devoted friend, Edward Brown; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many devoted friends, to include Sam Taylor, Jr. and DeMarco Harris.
