Obituary of Juanita Sims Crump

Please share a memory of Juanita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Juanita Sims Finley Crump, daughter of Neater Taylor Sims and the late Aaron Garfield Sims, was born April 2, 1946 in Cumberland, Virginia. She was reared in a loving, Christian home with five sisters (Victoria preceded her in death), her parents, and grandparents. Juanita accepted Christ at an early age and joined Tearwallet Baptist Church. She continued her membership and support until her passing. Juanita graduated from Luther P. Jackson High School in 1965 after which, she moved to New Jersey to begin her career in retail. In 1967, Juanita was joined in holy matrimony to the late Lawrence Finley and to this union two sons were born, Hishorn Finley and Lawrence Finley. In 1988, she relocated to Cumberland and was employed by the Cumberland County Public School System as a substitute teacher and paraprofessional until her retirement. She was also employed at Willow Oaks as a technical assistant. Juanita enjoyed her employment and had a special attraction for students with disabilities. Later, Juanita was joined in matrimony to the late Jessie Lee Crump. She was a loving wife, devoted daughter, loving mother, and caring sister, aunt, relative and friend who loved being with family and eating out. Although she has been removed from our presence, she remains in our hearts. On Thursday, July 20, 2017, Juanita answered the call of her Master and quietly slipped into eternal rest. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will be cherished by her mother, Neater Taylor Sims; her sons, Lawrence and Hishorn (Nikki) Finley; her grandchildren, Amber, Yalana, Yamir, Breanna; great-grandchildren, Taniyah and Nova; four sisters, Dora Hatcher of Irvington, NJ, Dorothy (Garry) of Cumberland, VA, Linda Loretta, and Sherry of Cumberland, VA; two brothers-in-law, Douglas Hatcher of Irvington, NJ and Linwood Crump of Richmond, VA; sisters-in-law, Emma Jones and Kathleen Crump of Cumberland, VA; three devoted friends, Geraldine, Susan, and Rev. Tammy Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. "I Have a Place in Heaven" Please don't sing sad songs for me. Forget your grief and fears. For I am in a perfect place, away from pain and tears… I'm far away from confusion, and hurt and want and pride. I have a place in heaven, with the Master by my side. My life on earth was very good, as earthly lives can go. But, paradise is so much more than anyone can know… My heart is filled with happiness and sweet rejoicing too.
