Obituary of Bertina M Fuseymore

Bertina Mayo Fuseymore, daughter of the late Fred Mayo and Mary Belle Harper Mayo, was born on September 20, 1943 in Powhatan, Virginia. Bertina accepted Christ at an early age and joined Little Zion Baptist Church. She attended Powhatan County Public Schools. After graduating, she lived in New York for a brief time. Then she returned home to Powhatan. On May 30, 1964, Bertina was joined in wedlock to Clayton Fuseymore, Jr. and from this union two daughters were born. Bertina was employed with David and Lea from 1969 until its closing in 1982. After which she dedicated her time to raising her family. Affectionately known as "Buddha" to her grandson, great, and great-great nieces and nephews, she enjoyed going to bingo, playing cards with the girls, and of course, watching "Judge Judy." On Sunday, May 14, 2017, she departed this life at St. Mary's Hospital. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; stepmothers, Everhart Miller Mayo and Nancy Morris Mayo; and her sister, Elaine Wright. She leaves to cherish fond memories her husband, Clayton Fuseymore, Jr.; two daughters, Cheryl Johnson (Steve) and Sharay Fuseymore; one grandson, Brian Johnson; two sisters, Phyllis Washington (Frank) and Orene Hampton (Leroy); one step-sister, Nancy Holland (Mark); three brothers-in-law, Clyde Fuseymore (Jean), devoted Eugene Fuseymore, and Kenny Jones; three sisters-in-law, Marie Fuseymore, Ruby Fuseymore, and Jeanne Booker; three aunts, Evelyn Bell, Clara Shanks, and Florence Harper; two devoted cousins, Marendia Harris and Barbara Scott; and a host of other relatives and friends.
