Obituary of Michaela Briajah Woodson

Please share a memory of Michaela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michaela Briajah Woodson, affectionately known as "Mickey", was born on November 18, 2000 to BreAnne Woodson and Duane Chapman. In 2015, she accepted Christ, was baptized, and became a member of the Petersville Baptist Church in New Canton, VA. As a member, Mickey was a part of the Youth of Praise, the Vessels of Praise, and the Debutante ministries. She also helped out with the outreach ministry, Woman at the Well, where she assisted with handing out meals to the homeless at the Daily Bread in Lynchburg, VA on several occasions. Mickey was a student at the Cumberland County High School. During her years as a student, she made many academic achievements. In elementary school, she became a part of the Talented and Gifted (TAG) program and attended the TAG summer enrichment program for several years at Longwood University. In middle school, she became a part of the National Junior Honor Society. Last summer she attended and completed the CyberCamp program offered by the school. And, earlier this year, she was inducted into the National Honor Society. Mickey also participated in extracurricular activities and was a part of the JV cheering squad for the JV basketball team in middle and high school and joined the JV softball team this spring. She was also a part of Girl Scout Troop #660 and participated in softball and cheering through the Cumberland Recreation department. And, she received her black belt in karate in April 2011. During her short time here on earth, Mickey left an imprint on the hearts and minds of those she came in to contact with that will never be forgotten. She was bright and smart and had a kind soul, but would have a "melt down" in the blink of an eye if something wasn't going her way. She was admired by so many not just for her beauty but for her brains. Michaela loved to read. She was very creative and had a passion for baking. She also had a love for makeup and was always online looking for different was to "contour" and "highlight" her face. If only she could see the beauty that we all saw when we looked at her, she would know that there was no need for makeup. She was a wonderful big sister, always looking after and taking care of her younger siblings. She loved her family and friends, especially her boyfriend of three years, Stevie. They had a love for one another like no other. On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, Mickey received her wings along with her baby sister, Chunky, and they flew home to be with our Lord. She was preceded by her grandfather, Guy C. Crenshaw and her uncle, Demetric O. Woodson. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted mother, BreAnne Woodson and stepfather, Darrell Trent; her father, Duane Chapman; devoted grandmother, Ethel Woodson; grandparents Sandra and Buddy Wilkerson, Gill and Susie Chapman, and St. Cassell and Helen Brooks; one brother, Bren; three sisters, Jazmine, Iceis, and Daryn; five uncles, Quincy, Shawn (Tasha), Kevin (Joscelyn), Harvey (Renee) and Eric; three aunts, Jerrine, Janine, and Ashley; one great-uncle, Artie (Carmenlita); five great-aunts, Cathy, Melissa, Vercal, Vanessa, and Dionne (Tobias); one god-sister, London; one god-brother, Josiah; one nephew, Charles; devoted cousins, Rodriguez, Domonta, Daelyn, Christian, Paris, Helena, and Lily; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends; and her best friends, Jordan, Alexis, and Calista; and the love of her life, Stevie. Her presence her on earth will be missed by so many.
