Obituary of Georgia Foster

Please share a memory of Georgia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Georgia Allen Foster, daughter of the late Arthur and Mozelle Allen , was born on May 17, 1928 in Cumberland, Virginia. At an early age, Georgia was baptized in the Christian faith and became an active member of Tearwallet Baptist Church. Georgia was raised in Cumberland County in a family of twelve children. The family was very close and enjoyed family gatherings. It was during these gatherings that Georgia became known as the center of attention, wearing bonnets, dancing, and telling jokes. On March 16, 1951, she was joined together in Holy matrimony to Deacon Richard E. Foster Jr. (deceased). She then joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death. To their union, five sons and one daughter were born. Two of her sons preceded her in death, Edward Darnell and Lowell Anthony. She was educated in the Cumberland County education system. She worked for many years at Flippen's Store where she was known for her kind words and loving demeanor. Upon her retirement, she became a stay at home wife focusing on her family and serving the Lord. She was a woman of great purpose, character, and one who loved her family, friends, and the Lord. She was very active in her church. She sang in the choir, was a deaconess in the church, and served in the mission ministry. One of her greatest passions was encouraging the youth to love and serve God. She truly loved her church and her church family. She had a witty sense of humor. She always had a joke to tell. She knew how to make EVERONE laugh. She saw the good in everyone and because of that people gravitated to her. Some called her "Mrs. Agnus," "Shorty," and others would call her "Momma." She enjoyed life to its fullest. Though she never acquired an official driver's license, it has been said that she never missed a ride which inevitably allowed her to travel near and far. She was the heart of her husband and children. She taught her children to fear God and to put God first in all that they do. Her grandchildren adored her and thought of her as a precious jewel and a "diva," who taught them to hold their heads up high. To her extended family, she was a voice of reasoning, knowing just the right words to say at just the right time to anyone who was in need of encouragement. Proverbs 31: 10-31 speaks of the qualities of a virtuous woman who is one that loves her husband, loves and raises her children, and most of all one who fears the Lord God for she is truly Blessed. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend made the transition from an earthly dwelling to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James, John, Oliver, Arthur, Sidney, Basil, and Barry; and sisters, Ada, Martha, Jean, and Jackie. She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Michael Allen (Jackie), of New Jersey, Jeffery Alan Foster (Angela) of Meherrin, Virginia, Christopher Kyle Foster (Phyllis) of Lawton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Emma Watson of Cumberland, Virginia; daughters-in-law, Jackie Foster of Hampton, Virginia and Daisy Foster of Amelia, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Odell, Leanna, Lorene, and Lottie Johnson; one brother-in-law, Junius Foster (Lucille) of Cumberland; thirteen grandchildren, James, Bonnie, Michelle, Regina, Hakim, April, Keisha, Danyelle, Christian, Joshua, Jazmine, Tyra, and Aaliyah; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many devoted friends.
