Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Allen Taylor was born December 13, 1925 to the late Edward and Kate Taylor of Powhatan County, Virginia. On Thursday morning August 11, 2016 at his residence, James peacefully traveled home to be with his heavenly father. James began his education at the Logansville School in Powhatan, County. At a very early age James joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a very active member. He loved church as he frequently visited Greenbrier, Hollywood and Pine Hill Baptist Church. On October 21, 1967 James was joined in holy matrimony to Dorothy R. Simms. They shared a long and loving union of almost forty years. James worked many years at Southern Brick and VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) from which he retired after many years of service. He was also a member of the Powhatan Fair Association. James, uncle, uncle James and J. T. as he was affectionately called by family and close friends, was a soft spoken gentle man with strong convictions. He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory a sister, Helen T. Morris of Powhatan; Goddaughter/niece, Karen Harris (Tony); 2 godchildren, Aaron and Tony Harris, Jr.; three brothers-in-law, 6 sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
