George R Perkins (Russell) transitioned to be with his heavenly Father on July 11, 2016 at the Lucy Corr Nursing Center in Chesterfield Co, Va. Russell was born on October 24, 1925 in Powhatan, VA to the late Sadie S. Perkins. Russell was converted and baptized at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Powhatan, VA at an early age. He attended the Pocahontas School in Powhatan, Va. In 1944, Russell joined the United States Army and served honorably until his discharge in June 1944. He relocated to Washington DC upon his discharged from the Army. Russell obtained Federal employment with the United States Federal Government (Government Printing Office) for 30 plus years. During his residence in Washington, DC for over 50 years he was a part time Taxi Driver and Chauffer in which was one of the joys of his life. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary E Hughes Perkins of 50 plus years in Nov. 2003. Along with brothers, Allen and Charlie Perkins and sister, Margaret Perkins Harris. He leaves to cherish fond memories, a beloved daughter, Pamela Miller of District Heights, MD; one brother, William H. Bell (Shirley) of Hyattsville. MD, one devoted nephew, Frank V. Perkins Sr. (Naomi) of Powhatan, VA; devoted Niece, Mary E. Scruggs of Temple Hills, MD; brother in-law, Aubrey Clement of Powhatan, VA.; sister-in-law, Mamie Palmer (Roy) of Powhatan, VA. A host of nephews; great nephews; nieces; great nieces, other relatives and friends.
