On Saturday, August 29, 2015, our beloved brother and uncle, Calvin Barry Matthews age 52, was called to rest by God from his earthly labor. Barry was born in Cumberland, VA on March 6, 1963. He was baptized at an early age and became a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cumberland, VA. Barry spent his life working in restaurant and home improvement industries until he became disabled. He had a love for his family, fishing and gardening. He liked to work on and tinker with electronics and small engines. Barry also enjoyed watching football and basketball. Barry was preceded in death by his father, James William "Jimmy" Matthews; his mother, Lucille Elizabeth Parker Matthews and his eldest brother, Charlie Samuel Parker. He is survived by six sisters Barbara Jane Nelson (Rocky), Florine Janet Doughty, Mary Victoria "Vicky" Morton (Danny), Robin Antoinette Stocks (Vernon), Diane Patricia Watson (Cecil) and Cheryl Paulette Scott (Greg); three brothers, Russell Parker William Edward Matthews (Faye) and Archer Conrad Matthews along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
