Obituary of Carla Janet Urquhart

Carla was born to Earl and Hazel Norvell Urquhart on February 7, 1962 in Fort Bragg, NC. Carla's father was in the United States Army for 26 years, consequently she attended school in many places including Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Benning, GA and Richmond, VA. She received her undergraduate degree from VCU in Richmond, VA. She then attended and graduated from Washington and Lee School of Law with a JD. From 1994 to 1995, she was an Assistant Editor of the Editorial Board of "Masthead" a Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice. She was recommended for and accepted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court. Carla practiced Corporate Law in the energy field with the firm of Millbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCoy. She was honored by her colleagues by being selected to serve as Chairperson of the Energy Division of the Virginia Bar Association. She was currently working at the United Sates Federal Energy Commission in Washington, DC. She was a very attentive daughter, sister and aunt. On Sunday, March 29, 2015 Carla departed this life in Alexandria, Virginia. Carla was predeceased by her father, Earl and sister, Jennifer. Carla is survived by her mother, Hazel; brother, Michael (Colleen); nephew, Ian; uncle, Dr. & Mrs. George Urquhart. Her memory will be cherished by many other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed.
