Obituary of Linda Jean Brown

Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Linda Jean Brown was born in Ashley, Arkansas on June 21, 1958 to the late Willie Brown and Christine Martin. At a very young age she moved with her parents from Arkansas to Louisiana where she resided until she became a teenager. Upon be coming of age, she decided to move with relatives in New York in order to find employment. It did not take her very long to find her niche in life; which was to be a caregiver. She spent many years in New York doing what she did best, taking care of the ill and the elderly. In 2001, she was asked by a close friend if she would move to Cumberland, Virginia to care for some of his relatives. She said yes and that is how so many Cumberland and Powhatan residents got to know Linda Brown. She was a dutiful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Cartersville, Virginia; where she served in the Senior Choir and Willing Workers Ministries. Linda Brown was a 'free spirit" who said and did it her way. No matter what objections some friends might have had. However, her top priority was always taking good care of her clients. Along with being a good caregiver, she was an excellent cook. Her delicious cakes, pies, cornbread and potato salad were highly rated but her "Soul Food" menu could win the Blue Ribbon. Many of her clients forgot about following their "do not eat list" as they chowed down on the forbidden foods and asked for more. However, Linda would not let them over eat. On Friday, October 24, 2014, Linda departed this life in Richmond, Virginia. Linda Jean Brown may be gone from this life, but she will not be forgotten by those who loved and cared about her. She leaves to cherish her memory; a daughter, Teresa Walker; a son-in-law; six grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
